The central delegates of five trade unions of Moulinex on six (CGT,FO, CFE-CGC, CFTC, Sydys) signed, Wednesday November 21, the social plan of an amount of more than 800 million francs which must accompany the partial recovery of Moulinex by SEB. This plan envisages the suppression of 3 700 employment out of 5 600, consecutive to the closing of four sites of production (Alençon, Cormelles-the-Royal, Bayeux and Falaise). This is the end of a conflict which has lasted for several weeks. All started with the setting in legal rectification the 7th September 2001. The constant will of independance of the groupe (the company have indeed refused any alliance for more than twenty years) is the causes of several crisis, which led the group to its loss. This obstinacy often has, in the past, leads it shareholders, leaders and workers to choose rather hazardous financial solutions than industrial choices which seem more durable. On Monday October 22th , the commercial court of Nanterre chose the French group SEB to take again its old competitor Moulinex partially. Two solutions of recovery were presented to the court: that of SEB and that of the Fidei group, subsidiary of an American financial group. Although the proposition of Fidei implies the recovery of 1000 workers more than that of SEB, the latter was retained because considered to be surer. The promoters of Fidei are indeed specialists in repurchase of company in difficulty, and it is probably the reason why they was not choosen. Thanks to this recovery, SEB becomes the champion of the small household appliances. Taking again the three quarters of Moulinex?s activities, but only one third of its manpower, it rises in the first world place of its sector.Unfortunately, four factories will disappear : Bayeux, Cormelles-the-Royal, Falaise and Alençon. Vis-a-vis with this social drama, the government took the engagement, on Tuesday October 23th 2001, to seek solutions for each employee touched by the plan of recovery by SEB. Moreover, because of the lack of liquidities of Moulinex, the measures suggested to the unemployed are confined to the legal minimum. That?s why on Friday October 26th a delegation of the touched factories met the ministers concerned to discuss the financing of the social plan. The trade unions of Moulinex multiply then the blows of glare to negotiate starting premiums. The 12 November 2001, the employees of the factory of Cormelles-le-Royal put fire at a building. At the same time trade unionists retain Michel Bove, the delegate named by the government. Nevertheless, the negotiations continued with the problems of the extra premium of dismissal required by the trade unions. Finally, on saturday November 17th, the employees of the factory of Cormelles-the-Royal, after those of Bayeux and Falaise on 16th November, approve the project of social plan leading to the signature of this one on the 21th November . This signature puts fine at a two months conflict making 3500 unemployed (in France).
